Czech Labor Minister Jureka will propose in January raising the minimum wage

11 October 2022

Labor Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) will submit a proposal to the government to increase the minimum wage from January. It should correspond to 41 percent of the average wage in the Czech Republic. Jurečka announced today. He did not specify the specific proposed amount. According to current data and the addition could amount to around CZK 350. The minimum wage is now CZK 16,200. Due to high inflation, the unions demanded an increase of CZK 2,000 this year.

The tripartite debated the minimum wage. Trade unions and entrepreneurs did not agree on the addition this year either. Jurečka called on them to continue negotiations and try to find “at least some interval” of amounts.
