The average interest rate being charged for mortgages in the Czech Republic fell to 1.87 percent in June, its lowest-ever point. It broke the previous record set in May of 1.89 percent, according to data from Fincentr Hypoindex, which has been monitoring interest rates for mortgages since 2003. The number of mortgages issued in June rose to 12,324. In May, the amount was 10,831, with a total volume of CZK 20.7bn. The figure in June was also a record, reaching CZK 23.7bn. In all this year, 55,266 mortgages have been issued with a total volume of CZK 106.7bn, over CZK 16bn more than at the same time last year. The average monthly installment for 240 month loans fell below CZK 5,000 (by one crown) for the first time ever.
