National postal service operator Czech Post (CP) will lay off several thousand employees this year, including postal carriers and counter staff, as well as administrative workers, CP head Miroslav Stepan, told news server Seznam Zpravy today.
He also confirmed the intention, announced earlier, to close 300 outlets.
According to Stepan, CP will have to respond to the reduction in the number of branches by reducing the number of staff.
“In the first phase, as of 1 July, we are talking about lower units of thousands,” Stepan said. This will include counter staff, on-foot postal carriers and those who deliver consignments by car, and the third group will be employees in the administrative apparatus, he added.
CP has been making losses in recent years.
