The average monthly wage rose 7.4 percent in the first quarter of the year to CZK 32,466 according to new research by the Czech Statistics Office. In real terms, taking inflation into account, that represented a 4.6 percent improvement, though the CSU also found that two-thirds of all Czechs make less than the average. The best paid Czechs work in the finance and insurance sector, where they make nearly CZK 59,869 per month. That’s CZK 500 per month more than employees in the information and communications industries, while the energy production sector offers wages of more than CZK 50,000.
