Prices for flats have been rising quickly in recent years, but so have rents. The classified ads paper Annonce has released an analysis of notices for rental flats and reports that on average, Czech will pay CZK 221/sqm, 16 percent more than a year ago according to director Lenka Černá. “The price of rental flats with two bedrooms and a kitchenette rose the quickest, by 20 percent,” she says. With rents rising so quickly, she says that people are looking for ever-smaller places to live. That’s made studio flats the most expensive of all, with landlords asking for an average of CZK 283 per square meter per month. Not surprisingly, the most expensive average rental rates are to be found in Prague – CZK 287 per sqm.
