Prague’s high-end fashion shopping street Pařížská is attracting increasing numbers of Chinese tourists, who travel abroad during their holiday. They are focusing on historic monuments and high-end goods, such as fashion and cosmetics. This year, some 60 million of them will travel abroad, and statistics indicate they will spend more than CZK 1.2bn before returning home. 100,000 Chinese tourists visited the Czech Republic last year, spending CZK 14,000 on average. “It is 25 percent more than Russians,” čt24.cz quotes the director of Czech Tourism Rostislav Vondruška. Some of the boutiques and hotels already started hiring Chinese staff to cater to the new clientele, and the Ministry for Regional Development is planning to focus on strengthening the network of consulates which issue visa as well as the number of airlines serving Prague.
