28 April 2020

It’s a good time to be building infrastructure for the state, according to iDnes.cz. It reports that companies working on road and rail projects will be able to raise the prices on their work automatically thanks to a recent decision by parliament. For work completed during the state of emergency, companies will be allowed to demand up to 11 percent more. For work on motorways and highway, contractors can add 10.2 percent to each invoice, while those involved in the reconstruction and modernization of railways get an automatic bonus of 7.2 percent. The best projects to have at the moment are bridges along highways which command a 11.1 percent add-on. For their part, construction companies claim the extra costs are simply a recognition of the extra complications and expense of building during a state of emergency. “These are objective expenses that we have to document are connected to the government measures in order to be able to continue working while obeying the government measures and protecting our workers,” said the spokeswoman for Eurovie.
