Unemployment in the Czech Republic continued its fall in February, dropping to 3.2 percent. This translated into a total of 241,417 people without work, the lowest number recorded since 1997. The situation is the most extreme in Prague, with just 1.9 percent of the labor force currently jobless. Even in the region with the worst unemployment in the country, Moravia Silesia, only 4.9 percent of the population isn’t able to find work. Put another way, there are more jobs than than people, or to put express it statistically, just 0.7 people for every job opening. “We’re not at the bottom yet,” Komerční banka analyst Jana Steckerová told the Czech News Agency. “Unemployment will probably reach its minimum this spring when it could fall as far as 2.5 percent.”
