Foreign and Czech-based companies are planning to invest more than CZK 65bn, according to CzechInvest and a third of these are high-tech projects. The Czech Republic’s investment agency is tracking 106 investment projects which it says are technologically oriented or concern research and development. Most of the companies are from Germany, the United States and from Japan. “New investors won’t be coming to Czechia as much as they used to in the past,” CzechInvest’s director Silvana Jirotková told idnes.cz. We’re unable to absorb purely as many new production activities that aren’t very technologically demanding. At the same time, we’re far more interested in high-tech investments.” Eighty of the projects CzechInvest is working with investors on came from companies already located in the country, typically in the Usti nad Labem region or in Southern Moravia.
