20 August 2019

The value of assets held by Czechs in foreign funds rose to CZK 10.1bn during the second quarter of 2019, while the amount in domestic funds hit CZK 43.3bn, according to Seznam.cz. It writes that 85 percent of these assets are held by people, with just 15 percent owned by legal entities. The chairman of AKAT Martin Řezáč said that investors were primarily interested in bond funds during the second quarter, but that all types of funds saw an increase in investment volumes. “After the last quarter, which reacted to a slowing down (in investments) with dramatic growth in almost all types of funds, growth continued at a slower rate in the second quarter.” The average Czech investor earned a return of 7.1 percent during the first half of 2019 according to an index maintained by Swiss Life Select and Thomson Reuters.
