Czechs hope to land €1bn Nexen investment

28 February 2014

Czech authorities are hoping to convince Korean tire producer Nexen to build a factory in the Czech Republic. The investment, reportedly worth CZK 20bn (€1bn), would create more than 3,000 jobs, the daily MF Dnes writes.
While government officials have declined to comment on negotiations, there is wide speculation that Žatec’s Triangle industrial zone is under consideration. The 364 ha zone is located on the grounds of a former military airport next to the R7 motorway. The paper writes that Nexen is facing pressure from South Korean unions not to outsource labor to other countries.
