The Czech Republic has opened its borders to Germany and Austria and will be allowing citizens of EU states to enter the country for three days to visit relatives or for economic reasons. However, they will be required to submit a negative Covid-19 test upon entry, even if they don’t happen to be controlled at the border. Rather than checking everyone, police will be checking people crossing the border randomly, which will relieve some of the pressure on the security forces. The country’s airports in Brno, Ostrava, Karlovy Vary, Pardubice and Kbely have also been opened for flights originating in the Schengen zone. Of greater interest to Czechs is that they will be allowed to travel to Slovakia for 48 hours and return without tests or quarantines.
