The Czech Highway Authority (RSD) has taken a significant step forward in preparations for the extension of the D3 motorway to Austria. It has completed a tender for the preparation of project documentation for an 8.6 km section of the road from Trebonin to Dolni Dvoriste, assigning the work to Valbek a Novak & partner. The company won with a bid of CZK 26 million, which was CZK 5 million less than expected. RSD expects to hold a tender for the contractor this year, which would allow construction to begin in 2021. Completion is set for 2024 at a price of around CZK 2.5 billion. The most complicated portion of the motorway will be the 12 kilometers between Kaplice nadrazi and Nazidla, where Valbek also won the tender with a bid of CZK 63 million. Construction will cost an estimated CZK 6.4 billion and should be completed by 2025. Project documentation for the final four kilometers between Nazidel and the border will be prepared by Pragoprojekt for CZK 28.5 million in time for construction to begin in 2022.
