D7 to be done in 2024

9 May 2018

The D7 motorway to Chomutov is due for completion in 2024, according to a timeplan released by the Czech Highway Authority’s director Jan Kroupa. He said that that four kilometers of the road would be completed this year, including a bridge whose construction was bungled so badly it had to be torn down and rebuilt. Work will begin next year on 14 km of the motorway, including the 6 km bypass around the town of Louny. The final section of the road, heading towards Chomutov from the town of Slany, will get underway in 2021. Work on the motorway began in 1960s. The connection to Germany, a two-lane highway which has been widened by a single land, is experiencing the highest increase in traffic of any in the country.
