Dacian Cioloş named Romania’s Prime Minister of Romania

Tuesday evening Dacian Ciolos took over Tuesday night the office of prime minister in a ceremony at Palatul Victoriei, which was attended by President Klaus Iohannis and interim Prime Minister Sorin Cîmpeanu.

Dacian Cioloş was previously a Commissioner for Agriculture in the EU executive led by Jose Manuel Barroso. Cioloş was also the Minister of Agriculture from October 2007 until December 2008, and in 2002-2003 he worked for the European Commission Delegation in Romania.

Dacian Cioloş was put forward as a candidate for the position by President Klaus Iohannis, following the resignation of former Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
