Dade County commissioners agreed to give a 1.38-acre site to the Florida Dept. of Transportation, which needs it for the construction of a signature bridge. It’s part of a land swap deal, in which Dade County gets a nearby plot of roughly the same size for the construction of a parking garage for the Arsht Center. Under the terms of the deal, a deed restriction was placed on FDOT’s new land, preventing the agency from building a permanent structure that would block views from the Arsht Center. The Town Square Neighborhood Development Corporation had been lobbying for a public plaza to be built on the property.
