Daejung Europe completes takeover of bankrupt SKD Bojkovice

5 June 2020

Daejung Europe is the new owner of SKD Bojkovice, following a bankruptcy and reorganization process that took nearly a year to complete. The Zlín-based engineering and tool manufacturer got into financial difficulties last year and declared insolvency after a period of rapid growth. Its creditors have agreed to the sale, including Česká spořitelna which was owed CZK 257m when SKD Bojkovice collapsed. Daejung Europe is paying CZK 140m for the company. A crisis manager was appointed to lead the company through the reorganization process last July, a move which meant that the original owner Petr Kuchař had no influence at the company. As a supplier to the automobile industry, SKD Bojkovice’s situation deteriorated even more rapidly during the coronavirus crisis, complicating the sale even further and leading to the firing of its 350 employees. Daejung has been active in Slovakia for ten years, operating in two factories it built in Dubnice nad Váhom and Nové Dubnice.
