Dálniční stavby Praha likely wins tenders for D1 reconstruction

4 January 2013

Dálniční stavby Praha likely won the tenders to modernize two sections of the D1 motorway, which connects Prague to Brno, writes the server e15. The construction company’s bids were the lowest, indicating that the road repairs can be done for much cheaper than originally estimated. Dálniční stavby offered to reconstruct the motorway’s Šternov-Psáře section, which spans 7 km, for CZK 0.5bn. The state highway authority, Ředitelství silnic a dálnic (ŘSD), estimated the work would cost CZK 823m.
The other tender was for a 10 km section between Loket and Hořice. Dálniční stavby’s bid came in at CZK 550m, while ŘSD had estimated the work would run to CZK 1bn. The D1 tenders attracted strong interest from the construction sector with 13 companies bidding to work on five sections of the motorway. ŘSD revealed the bids for the first two sections on Thursday. The bids for the other three sections will be announced today. Dálniční stavby Praha is part of the Strabag group.
