Daniel Daianu recommend to not start applying regulations of the Euro Plus

5 April 2012

It will not be wise for Romania to start applying regulations of the Euro Plus pact as of January 2013, said economic analyst Daniel Daianu.
While he agrees the country needs to establish budget discipline, he insists the country needs to maintain its room for maneuver and that the pact was looking increasingly like a straight jacket.
Romania is a signatory to the pact, signed by 25 other EU states, which sets a limit of 0.5% on structural deficits and requires that debt levels stay below 60% of GDP. The maximum budget deficit allowed for the pact is 3%.
