Genera, a subsidiary of the UK veterinary products manufacturer Dechra Pharmaceuticals, opened the largest integrated solar power plant in Croatia. The 1.5 MW Zagreb plant is equipped with 5,543 rooftop photovoltaic (PV) panels. The facility is expected to produce around 1.545 million kWh of electricity per year. Construction took seven months to complete. The investment is valued at GBP 1.3m.
“We expect to reduce the Zagreb site’s CO2 footprint by approximately 360 tons, which equates to 4 percent of the Dechra’s total CO2 emissions in 2018. We also anticipate that the power plant will allow us to lower variable costs, mitigate the risks of electricity price fluctuations, and will have a direct impact on reducing the cost of goods sold in the future,” said Ian Page, CEO of Dechra.
