Demand for automotive storage hits new high

20 October 2015

The demand for new manufacturing and storage space from the automotive industry has hit record levels in the Czech Republic this year, according to CBRE. One-third of the total demand for space on the Czech market has come from the automotive sector, up from 15 percent of the total last year. Hospodářské noviny writes that the Czech Republic attracts both automotive manufacturers from Western Europe, looking for cheaper labor, as well as automotive suppliers from Asia, who want to relocate closer to European car producers.

Investors are currently looking for locations in northern Bohemia and southern Moravia where unemployment is relatively high, unlike wage levels. In more traditional automotive locations, such as Mladá Boleslav, along the D5 motorway and around Pilsen, labor is scarce and industrial zones are full. The total volume of automotive production reached CZK 991bn in the Czech Republic and automotive investors addressed the state investment agency CzechInvest with projects worth CZK 21.1bn, write Hospodářské noviny.
