Demand for rooms to rent on the Spanish housing market increased by 48 percent y-o-y in the first half of 2016, growing from 22.2 million to more than 33 million searches, according to a recent report published by idealista.com. However, despite the increase in demand, prices have increased by just 1.9 percent this year, averaging €285 per month. The greatest increases were reported in Barcelona (6.9 percent) and Madrid (4.3 percent). The two cities have the biggest supply of rooms for rent in Spain, followed by Valencia, Seville and Granada.
