During the recession, households and businesses in the Czech Republic have been making more bank deposits. The total volume of deposits increased by 8.3 percent y-o-y to CZK 3103.7bn by the end of September, according to the Czech Bank Association (ČBA).
The loan-to-deposit ratio was 76 percent. “Deposit growth is significantly exceeding the annual increase in loans, allowing domestic banks to maintain very favorable ratio of loans to deposits and therefore a comfortable systemic liquidity position,” ČBA said in a statement.
