More than 1 million sqm of non-residential buildings, including retail, office and logistics projects, were completed in Romania in 2019, according to a new report published by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox. This is only the third time in the last 25 years that the annual volume exceeded 1 million sqm. Bucharest accounted for more than 52 percent of the delivered projects in 2019, followed by Timișoara (11 percent), Sibiu (8 percent) and Cluj-Napoca (7 percent). “Looking ahead, 2020 is expected to be a good year. Compared to 2019, a slight decrease is expected in the office and industrial sectors, while the developers of shopping centers could open new projects and extensions of existing centers with a cumulative area of 235,000 sqm, up almost 50 percent compared to the previous year,” Cushman & Wakefield Echinox wrote.
