DHL Supply Chain logistics company relocates its domestic operation to Páty

29 November 2023

DHL Supply Chain, a member of the DHL Group, will take possession of its 20,000 sqm of leased space in the largest stand-alone modern industrial building in the Budapest area at the beginning of January 2024. The PT1 warehouse at HelloParks Páty megapark, spanning 58,000 sqm and verified as “zero ready”, has been prepared to enable net-zero-emissions operations, allowing the logistics company to meet its corporate targets for 2025 ahead of schedule upon moving in. The deal is an important milestone as it represents the company’s first carbon-neutral facility in the region.

Delivered during the summer of 2023, the PT1 warehouse was constructed to strict standards, aiming at the highest, Outstanding rating of the BREEAM sustainability standards in the New Construction category and meeting EU Taxonomy requirements. This aligns with the standards upheld across all HelloParks warehouses delivered this year or currently under construction. In addition to ensuring efficient operational conditions, this entails using ISO 14001-certified materials and the selective handling of construction waste from the outset, with more than 85 per cent being recycled. The Big Box type warehouse in Páty has been recognised as a Five Star development in the Commercial and Manufacturing Development categoryby the European Property Awards this year.

“We have secured the confidence of another significant player in the industry, which pays tribute to the entire team. Since the start, HelloParks has put sustainability at the heart of its development, and it is very encouraging that energy efficiency is becoming a key issue for more and more companies in the future,” said Rudolf Nemes, CEO of HelloParks. “We strive to lead the way in meeting climate neutrality standards, which is why our properties adhere to much stricter criteria than those currently set by the EU and national regulations,” he added.

Tailored to DHL’s specific requirements and meeting BREEAM New Construction Outstanding standards, the warehouse areas are heated by an energy-efficient heat pump system, ensuring eco-friendly operation. This is further supported by HelloParks’ mobile app, which provides tenants with helpful information linked to the halls’ intelligent building automation and monitoring system. The application grants remote entry to technical details on the leased areas and allows the monitoring of energy consumption and the adjustment of heating, ventilation and lighting settings. The shared areas are lit by smart-ready lights, and electric car chargers are available in the car park.

“A key consideration when selecting the property was to move to a state-of-the-art facility that could help us achieve our sustainability goals for the foreseeable future. Alongside high-quality operating standards and an ideal location, excellent customer service was equally crucial to us. After experiencing an exceptional service mentality, it quickly became apparent that we had discovered the perfect partners ready to promptly address our needs. The newly constructed, thoughtfully prepared warehouse presents the possibility of a net zero operation, enabling us almost immediately to fulfil our corporate objectives for 2025,” – stated Zoltán Kemény, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain Hungary Kft.

Following the arrival of the logistics company, 52,000 sqm have already been rented in PT1. Previously, drogerie markt established a prime regional location in the Big Box hall on 18,000 sqm of space. It serves as a central distribution warehouse for its own-brand products in Eastern Europe. Negotiations to rent any remaining vacant space are also at an advanced stage.
