DHL to build a new logistics hub in Zdiby

12 February 2013

DHL Express plans to build a new logistics hub in Zdiby along the D8 motorway to the north of Prague. The 11,000 sqm warehouse will cost the logistics provider €7.7m. The company believes the new facility will expedite the shipment process and strengthen its position in the Czech Republic.
DHL’s Europe boss, John Pearson, hopes the Zdiby center will make the company more competitive. Proximity to DHL’s main European hub in Leipzig is vital, Pearson stressed, as parcels collected in Zdiby will be transferred to the Leipzig airport, where they will be dispatched. DHL focuses on small and medium-sized businesses and hopes to increase its market share. The accelerating economies in Brazil, Russia, India, China and Mexico are considered key markets, and DHL hopes increased demand from those markets will make up for the slowdown in the Eurozone.
