The digital economy makes up about 25 percent of Hungary’s GDP and employs approximately 400,000 people, or 10 percent of the country’s workforce, PM Viktor Orbán said at the opening of this year’s ITU Telecom World conference in Budapest. “Hungary is already a digital economy in the heart of Europe. The future has already started here, and we hope Europe will also follow that road by concluding the related debates and acting in unity,” Orbán said. The prime minister noted that Hungary currently has the lowest Internet VAT in Europe, and a modern test center for electric vehicles recently opened in southwestern Hungary.
