“Districts throughout Poland are ready to accept Ukrainians who are looking for refuge in Poland after the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Paweł Bossernaker.
“Provincial governors throughout Poland are ready to accept people who check in at reception points and seek refuge in Poland,” Bossernaker said in the Polish Radio Three.
He stressed that in the past weeks the Ministry of Interior and Administration was preparing “an action plan for various scenarios and today these plans are being implemented”.
“We are in contact with the Lublin and Podkarpacie Voivodes, who coordinate […] actions on the spot,” announced the deputy minister.
At the same time, he stated that among people who decided to cross the border in the last 24 hours, she had a clearly defined destination – i.e. she knew whether she wanted to go to another European Union country or stay in Poland. Only 1% of people who crossed the border went to reception points.
“We help these people. […] And it can be said that for the time being such help to provide ‘a roof over the head’ to people fleeing the war is only 1% of the number of people who enter Poland. The vast majority of people. when it comes to the first day […], these are people who have a specific destination,” said the deputy minister.
