Vladimír Dlouhý, a former trade and industry minister, was elected president of the Czech Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. He succeeds Petr Kužel, who was forced to resign after six years amid allegations that he was involved in a CZK 500,000 case of fraud.
Dlouhý served as Czech industry and trade minister between 1992 and 1997, and worked later as an advisor at Goldman Sachs. Dlouhý had considered a run for president in last year’s first direct presidential election but failed to collect enough signatures to secure his candidacy.
