The Greek village, which Hungarian news portal Napi.hu calls “dumbest investment on Balaton” is to disappear. The municipality of Balatonfured have now got the legal power to demolish the failed investment, which was supposed to become an family entertainment center located on the shores of Hungary’s largest lake. The village takes up 3 hectares of land and in recent years served as a party district of Balatonfured known as “Sun City”. The village was unpopular with locals who were demanding it to be demolished since it’s launch in 1991. With the local municipality owning 40% of shares and state of crisis rules Balatonfured has less legal requirements to fulfill to proceed with the removal of this process.
