The Newtour group is developing an aquarium in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores. The investment is expected to require around €15.5m. The Azores Aquarium project is being led by the tourism company Picos de Aventura (Adventure Peaks), which is part of the Newtour group. Construction work is scheduled to begin within a year and will take two years to completed. The project includes an oceanarium and aquarium, an underwater restaurant, along with a terrace and research area. To connect the acquarium to Ponta Delgada it will necessary to construct a promenade and also a recovery center for species and a dive center. The project will create 30 new jobs.
