The owner of Freeport Fashion Outlet in Alcochete will invest over €20m in redesigning and refurbishment of the shopping center. The works will start this month and should be completed in May 2017, but the space will not close. “This is a new chapter in the history of Freeport. The entire center will be changed,” said the general director of the outlet, Nuno Oliveira. He said a new food court would be built along with additional space for more shopping, with the number of stores going from the current 95 to 130. The outlet’s street furniture, green spaces, storefronts and signs will also be updated, with even the bathrooms expected to get an overhaul.
