The European Investment Bank will loan the Serbian government €100m to upgrade inland waterway navigation along the Sava and Danube rivers. The renovation work is expected to create new jobs and improve waterway transport connections to European markets. The country’s 2019 project pipeline also includes the construction of a bulk and general cargo terminal at the Smederevo port in eastern Serbia and a network of hydro-meteorological stations along the Danube and Sava.
