The European Commission suspended PLN 3.5bn in funds set to go toward road infrastructure projects in Poland. According to the website bankier.pl, the European Commission suspects Polish authorities of fixing contracts in certain road projects, and several people have already been charged in the cases.
The European Commission claims it was forced to suspend the funds after information about three ongoing investigations came to its attention. Poland’s Minister of Regional Development and Transport and the European Commision are expected to discuss the issue Friday.
