EIA approved for Prague ring road extension

27 November 2017

Work on Prague’s outer ring road could begin as early as 2020, following news that the plan for its southeast portion, connecting Modletice to Běchovice, now has a valid EIA statement. This would have a major impact on transit traffic from Brno on the D1 towards Hradec Kralove on the D11 or to Mlada Bolesav on the D10, and would spell relief for the over-used inner ring road where traffic snarls on a regular basis. The head of the Czech Highway Authority (RSD) told Czech Television it plans to submit documenation for the project’s construction permit in 2019. Prague’s outer ring road, is roughly halfway complete, allowing traffic to flow from the D7 at the airport to the D1 intersection at Modletice.
