Enel still intends to sell off Slovak assets

26 February 2015

The Italian energy company has announced that despite its decision to stop selling off its assets in Romania the company will continue disposing of its holdings in Slovakia. The energy giant needs to reduce its high devels of debt which it inherited when it took over the Spanish energy company Endesa in 2008. The company got rid of a 22-percent share in Endesa, but this will not reduce the need to cut back on debts by selling off property. Enel owns a 66-percent share in Slovenska eletrarna, a local energy company. It’s been reported that the Czech energy giant ČEZ could be interested along with Slovak oil company Slovnaft.
