Ericsson looks to expand in Poland

11 October 2012

Ericsson plans to double in size in Poland within the next two years. Despite the global economic slowdown, the Swedish giant posted nearly PLN 400m income last year for its Polish operations, with a net profit of PLN 114m. “We aim to double the scale of our business in Poland,” says Oliver Kanzi, head of Ericsson. “Poland is the tiger of Europe.”
According to Kanzi, the Polish mobile equipment market is worth nearly €1bn and is growing each year, in proportion to GDP. “Ericsson is the number one on this market, with its 25 market percent share, followed by Huawei, while Alcatel and NokiaSiemes compete for the third spot,” says Kanzi.
Ericsson expects to add more than 150 jobs to the Polish labor market by the end of next year. At present, the company employs 700 people in Poland.
