As Russian troops continue to mobilize in Ukraine, natural gas prices in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands have shot up. The biggest hike was seen in the UK, where gas price increased by 10 percent to about $370.5 per cubic meter. At the same time, according to the ITAR-TASS agency, gas prices in the Netherlands increased to $366 per cubic meter, while Germany is witnessing an 8.1-percent jump, with prices hitting $369.5 per cubic meter.
“Russia is controlling gas deliveries to Ukraine, where it’s being transferred into Europe, which make the whole region strongly dependent on Russian gas,” says Soeren Bo Duvier Nielsen of Nordea Bank AB in Singapore.
