EU seeks to increase its financial authority

EU authorities could create regulations that could lead to deeper involvement by its institutions into the domestic budgets of the member countries. That’s just the one of the proposals that are to be discussed during the upcoming EU summit and a component of a broader plan to introduce a fiscal union across Europe. If approved, the regulations could could give Brussels a level of authority equivalent to that of member country finance ministers. Scheduled for Thursday, the summit is to be held in the context of increasing concerns over the EU’s future.
