Eurobank, through its Bulgarian subsidiary Postbank, has finalized the acquisition of the Bulgarian branch of Alpha Bank. This transaction makes Postbank, legally named Eurobank Bulgaria AD, the fourth largest bank in in Bulgaria, with loans and deposits of more than €828.4m.
Petia Dimitrova, CEO and Chairperson of the MB of Postbank said the merger would combine the strengths of the two banks, creating “a synergy that will serve as a basis for achieving sustainable profitability.” Eurobank will begin the merging process by rebranding all Alpha Bank offices and headquarters under the Postbank name.
