Eurovia says it’s not responsible for bridge damage near Ostrava and has refused to pay for the repairs. Martin Borovka, the construction company’s chairman of the board, claims the project’s investor, the state-owned Road and Motorway Directorate, chose the wrong material for the fillings, which caused the bridge damage. However, the heads of both companies – Jan Kroupa (ŘSD) and Borovka (Eurovia) – agreed that the companies will work on the repairs together and they will only go to court because of the payment, writes the server idnes.cz.
Eurovia completed the bridges six years ago but they are already suffering from cracks and shifting beams. Trucks have not been allowed to use them since September, while cars have to slow down on them. The government has been fighting with Eurovia over the 9 km section of the D47 motorway near Ostrava since 2011.
