Signals for the global economy sent out by the ‘first harbinger’ among economic indicators – the sentix economic index – point to a further downturn and a strengthening of the forces of the economic slowdown. The situation in Germany remains particularly uncertain. Here we measure the weakest situation since July 2020, when the economy was slowed down by the first coronavirus blockade. Germany also has a major impact on the economy of the Eurozone as a whole. The recession is progressing. But even in the case of the USA, which has so far held up well and defied the Fed’s restrictive policies, economic data are clearly declining. The tipping point of a global recession is less distant than it might seem, according to Sentix.

The current situation assessment index fell to -22 points from -20.5 points a month ago (reaching its lowest level since November 2022). The expectations index fell to -21 points from -17.3 points a month earlier.
