Exit polls show that Romania’s USL party won more than 50 percent of the vote during Sunday’s elections. According to preliminary results, USL grabbed 60.03 percent of the vote in the Senate election, followed by ARD with 16.95 percent, PP-DD with 14.18 percent and UDMR with 5.4 percent.
USl also received 58.63 percent of the vote in the Chamber of Deputies election. The Right Romania Alliance (ARD) got 16.69 percent of the vote, while Dan Diaconescu-People’s Party (PP-DD) received 13.53 percent, and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) took 5.31 percent.
Despite heavy snow throughout the country, the Central Electoral Bureau reported voter turnout of 35.43 percent on Sunday. The final results will be announced Thursday.
