Slovenian exports in the first half of this year amounted to €15.9 billion, which is 5.6 percent less than in the same period last year. State statistics show that the semi-annual surplus in foreign trade amounted to €829.1 million, which was 5.5 percent greater than the volume of imports.
The drop in exports is the result of the coronavirus crisis, but the statistical office notes that after a sharp drop in exports in April and May, the effect of the epidemic on trade and even export activity decreased towards the end of the second quarter.
Slovenia exported goods worth €2.7 billion in June, down 4.2 percent from the same month last year, while imports fell 5.1 percent. Imports in the first half of the year saw a larger decline than exports, amounting to €15.08 billion, 10.3 percent less than in the same period last year.
