Having fallen into a deep financial emergency, the Brno Fairgrounds company is looking at all possible ways to raise badly needed cash. This has led it to sell off one of the historic, functionalist UMPRUM building to Olman Services, a company that provides a wide range of management services at the complex. “We’ve been providing services at the fairgrounds since 1990, so we know the area well. We also lease a lot of space there so we decided to move our headquarters into the building,” said the company’s owner Martin Olejar. He told the Brno publication Drbna that a reconstruction of the building would have to be carried out under the guidance of monument preservation officials. Brno Fairgrounds has lost nearly all of its income as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the city is threatening to allow it to collapse completely if the state doesn’t provide a major financial injection.
