Falenta working for Polish anti-corruption bureau?

9 October 2014

Warsaw stock market investor Marek Falenta may have been working for Poland’s Central Anticorruption Bureau when he was caught eavesdropping on Polish politicians and businessmen at a popular restaurant in the capital, according to news reports. The daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes that Falenta has been filing regular reports to the CBA and even has a code name. Falenta, however, denies these claims, saying that he sees his relations with the bureau as his civic duty.

Falenta entered the Polish property investment market earlier this year through his company Real2B in an effort to sell off a substantial part of his non-core real estate portfolio. Polish media outlets are speculating that Falenta made the illegal recordings at the Warsaw restaurant Sowa & Przyjaciele to help save his business.
