According to the Croatian National Bank (CNB) the total volume of foreign direct investment in Croatia in 2019 was €1.24bn, a 19 percent increase compared to 2018. It marked the highest annual level of foreign direct investment since 2014. The largest sum, €286m, came from Luxembourg, followed by Austria (€257m), Slovenia (€140.8m) and Germany (€135m). A significant net outflow of €157.8m was achieved with Switzerland. The leading sector to receive FDI was financial intermediation, banking, wholesale trade, and real estate. The pace of direct investments into real estate increased rapidly, as did automotive manufacturing and food production.
