The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has chosen Denver-based Fentress Architects for Orlando airport’s $1.8 billion south terminal expansion. The investment will add 16-24 new gates for additional domestic and international flights. Fentress has designed the Denver International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and the Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
“One of the things we want to do is take the Orlando experience to a new place, to the future. We will have a lot of focus groups, meetings with the community, the airport board and stakeholders and the passengers to form what our design is,” said Curtis W. Fentress, president and CEO of Fentress Architects. “In Orlando, there’s a lot of imagery in the plants and materials that are part of things here, and that’s very exciting food for thought for architects.”
