Automobile manufacturer workers in a Fiat plant have returned to work after a mysterious break of 15 days, according to local media reports. Employees claim they were never provided with a reason for the work stoppage which is scheduled to end on Feb. 27. Even the country’s top union leader claims not to have been provided an explanation for the free days during which the plant in Kragujevac ceased its production of Fiat 500s. The strange circumstances as well as the timing have led to speculation that the real cause was a lack of components needed to assemble the cars resulting from international supply chain issues. Numerous industrial companies across Europe have complained that deliveries from China have been hurt by falls in production because of the outbreak of Coronavirus there. The daily Novosti reports that supplies of components such as bumpers, dashboards and sound systems had caused the halt.
