3 October 2012

A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon on the 10th floor of a block of the Confort City residential complex, located in Bucharest, district 3. The apartment block roof caught fire first, but the blaze then engulfed the 10th floor, before proceeding down the structure to the 9th and 8th floors.

The flames reportedly covered an area of about 400 sqm, said the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) officials. The residential complex, which is owned by the businessmen Robert and Ionut Negoita, consists of 12 buildings with 1,680 apartments, plus parking, two mini markets, a nursery, children’s playgrounds and parks.

In 2007, the hotel owned by Negoita brothers, located on Vitan Bârzeşti boulevard was hit by a fire while under construction.
